Pride Alliance Meetings for the Spring Semester – Upcoming Queer Events
I hope your syllabus week is turning out well and you are excited to start the new semester.
IUP Pride Alliance’s first official meeting where we kick off the new semester with the introduction of officers, discussion of goals and the mission of Pride on campus, as well as icebreakers to get to know each other will be Thursday, February 6th at 7:30pm in the Allegheny Room of the HUB. This does not mean that you cannot spend time with your friends at Pride Alliance before then. Here are just of the many events happening before then that we encourage you to attend.
First SAGE Meeting of the Semester:
The Students Advocating for Gender Equality will have their first meeting tonight at 7pm in the HUB Conemaugh Room.
Dinner and a Movie:
January 30th at 7:30pm Pride Alliance will have pizza and a movie during our regular meeting time. Location to be announced.
The Center for Student Life and The Pulse are co-sponsoring a spring recognized student organization fair (an IUP Day in the Spring!) on Saturday, February 1st from 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm in the Memorial Field House. Local community businesses are also invited to participate in this event. Stop by the Pride Alliance table to say hi!
Winter White Dance Party:
Iam Icandy Pittsburgh, also known as CRUZE Bar, is hosting a 18+ dance party to raise funds and awareness for the PSEC, the Pennsylvania Student Equality Coalition. The group is 501(c)3 working on anti-bullying of LGBTQ youth. The Winter White Party will feature DJ Steph, and an evening of non-stop excitement, dancing, and drinks while surrounded by all the beautiful people in Pittsburgh.
This will be the sexiest GLBTQ dance party gathering of the year. $5Cover
The Pennsylvania Youth Action Conference:
PSEC is hosting a Youth Action Conference February 14th-16th at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and the theme this year is Igniting a Youth Movement for Trans* Justice and Equality. A group of officers and Pride Alliance members will be attending and a few students from IUP have the opportunity to speak at the conference. If you are considering attending, check out the website and register online by January 30th.
